Each and every year the Pontifical Missionary Societies family celebrate the Pontifical missionary union on 2nd February (Presentation of the Lord) and on 11th February (World Day of Praying for the Sick). On 2nd February we also pray for Consecrated Life.
This year in the Diocese of Dedza this day will be celebrated on Saturday 5th February in a special way because we will also launch four PMS anniversaries and Jubilees. All the congregations working in Dedza have registered their participation on this day. The Diocese is expecting over 150 participants from Spiritans Fathers, White Fathers, Presentations sisters, Marists brother, Poverelles, Capuchins, Medical Missionaries of Mary, Theresians, Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sacramentines, Carmelites, Mother of Carmel Sisters and local clergy. Christians will also be part of the celebration since the feast of the Presentation of the Lord is also the feast of the whole Catholic church.
The celebration of this day at Dedza parish will start with recollection from 8:30 am followed by the sacrament of penance. Mass will start at 11:00 am. At the end of the mass, His Lordship Rt Rev Peter Chifukwa will commission all the Parish Priests to launch the PMS anniversaries and Jubilees in their parishes on the 13th of February 2022. The activities of this day will end with entertainment activities after Lunch.
The theme of the celebration of this day is You will be my witnesses Acts 1: 8a. This is also the theme of the year 2022.
